Research Cores

These research cores were collected by Exxon Production Research in the United States in the 1980s and 1990s behind key outcrops to test models of depositional facies and sequence stratigraphy. These cores were instrumental in developing concepts such as high-frequency sequence stratigraphy, parasequences, and depositional models for shoreface, deltas, and deepwater fans. These data have been released by ExxonMobil, and are the best available for each core.

Users may download the data, but any publication must acknowledge the source of the data from ExxonMobil Upstream Research, and cite copyright holders. Images not otherwise copyrighted are copyrighted by SEPM. Please see Exxon Core Data Copyright Permission Rules for more detail.
