Dr. Scott TinkerDr. Scott Tinker is a global energy visionary, educator and pragmatist working to solve major societal challenges in energy, environment, and economy. His career in industry, academia, government, and non-profits, including travel to 60 countries, underpin his global speaking, writing, filmmaking, television, radio, and board work. Tinker has led the dialog on balancing energy access for human flourishing with environmental protection in what he calls the “radical middle.” His views of the global energy landscape have proven prescient and impactful to industry leaders, policy makers, and educators. | ![]() |
Dr. David MohrigDr. David Mohrig received his B.A. from Pomona College, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Washington, Seattle. David then held a post-doctoral position at the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory of the University of Minnesota. Following Minnesota, he worked for Exxon Production Research Company and ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company as a deepwater sedimentary geologist. In 2001, David moved back into academia as faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 2006 David joined the faculty at the newly formed Jackson School of Geosciences, The University of Texas at Austin. David has been awarded the 2019 Francis J. Pettijohn Medal for Sedimentology by the Society for Sedimentary Geology (SEPM) and the 2021 G.K. Gilbert Award in Surface Processes by the American Geophysical Union; his research unites sedimentology and stratigraphy, and geomorphology. David currently holds the Peter T. Flawn Centennial Chair in Geology at UT-Austin. | ![]() |
Dr. Lorena MoscardelliDr. Lorena Moscardelli is the Director of the Bureau of Economic Geology and the State Geologist of Texas. She holds the Edwin Allday Endowed Chair in Subsurface Geology at the Jackson School of Geosciences. Lorena co-chairs the executive council for the Kay Bailey Hutchison Energy Center and serves on the NCS2030 scientific advisory committee at the University of Stavanger in Norway. Prior to her appointment as director, she was the Principal Investigator of the State of Texas Advanced Resource Recovery (STARR) program at BEG. Her expertise includes seismic geomorphology and interpretation, sedimentology and stratigraphy, and geoscience data integration. She earned a degree in Geological Engineering from Central University of Venezuela and a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin. | ![]() |
Dr. Jeff lukasikDr. Jeff Lukasik is currently Vice President of Subsurface in Equinor’s International Exploration and Production business area, based in Oslo Norway, where he leads a global team of over 780 professionals across Norway, Brazil, the US, UK, and Canada. His key responsibilities are to build and maintain a subsurface workforce that provides the right capability to meet prioritized and emerging business needs, and to ensure a strong learning and development culture within the subsurface area. He has a Ph.D. in Geoscience (carbonate geology specialty), is well published in his field, and has over 25 years of international experience in the industry. Internally, he is acknowledged for his ability to lead large, diverse teams through times of complexity and change with clarity, openness, and passion for the development of subsurface professionals. His career has spanned technical, operational, and corporate domains, from advising on geological aspects of carbonate reservoirs, to managing large offshore exploration programs, to shaping Equinor’s global subsurface operating model. He has previously held key leadership roles for Equinor in Brazil and Norway, including Head of the Pre-salt Centre of Excellence and Head of Global Exploration Strategy, influencing corporate direction during pivotal industry shifts. Beyond energy, he has a deep commitment to the sport of figure skating. He is an international referee and a World/Olympic-level figure skating judge, has officiated at numerous world championships and the 2018 Winter Olympics, and continues to contribute to national athlete and officials’ development programs in Canada. | ![]() |
