HIGHTLIGHTS OF SEPM'S HISTORY

SEPM's 100 years - 1926-2026

SEPM was formed as the Society of Economic Paleontologists and Mineralogists, the more technically oriented geologists who studied the rocks in the field and recovered from wells.  In today's terms - the micropaleontologists and the petrologists.  Originally as a division of AAPG and later as a separate 501c 3 organization with the name changed to SEPM Society for Sedimentary Geology as the breadth of specialization grew to include sedimentology, stratigraphy, geochemistry, diagenesis, sequence stratigraphy, seismic stratigraphy and all other topics within sedimentary geology.
