SEPM Council has approved the next ISGC - for 2028 but where?
Here is a call for recommendations for the ISGC III venue!
Due to strong interest and requests from attendees of ISGC II, SEPM is committed to convening the Third International Sedimentary Geoscience Congress (ISGC III) in 2028. The first ISGC was held at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona, and the second was held at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado. These university-based venues have proven to be excellent settings for the congress, providing both the facilities and academic support needed for a successful event. We are therefore seeking recommendations for a similar venue for ISGC III. Potential venues may include your current institution or one of your alma maters. The ideal location should have:• A strong geoscience/earth science department (meaning -Geology, Geoscience, Earth Sciences, or any combination of earth science studies) that can provide local support and expertise. • Appropriate facilities and services to accommodate the meeting requirements (see attached venue requirements). • Opportunities for field trips and/or experimental facilities that showcase modern sedimentary processes and/or significant ancient sedimentary rock exposures. • Opportunities to utilize unique core or data facilities to showcase data collections of modern sedimentary and/or ancient sedimentary rock, paleontologic collections or mineral collections.
