Statement of Purpose

First published in 1931, JSR is the oldest earth science journal dedicated to the field of sedimentology.  Now in its 77th year, JSR continues its long tradition of publishing papers that become benchmark contributions to sedimentary geology.  The journal is broad and international in scope and welcomes contributions that further the fundamental understanding of sedimentary processes, the origin of sedimentary deposits, the workings of sedimentary systems, and the records of earth history contained within sedimentary rocks.

SUBSCRIPTIONS for SEPM members receiving the Journal of Sedimentary Research are included in the dues (Voting and Associate Members - $85; Student Members - $25).  Nonmembers and Institutions for 2005 will be $300.  Membership forms available at the SEPM Home Page.

REQUESTS FOR PERMISSION TO PUBLISH, or to copy for general distribution, JSR copyrighted materials should be directed to SEPM Copyright and Permissions, 4111 S. Darlington, Tulsa, OK 74135; email: rtclarke1@aol.com.

Research Methods: Succinct descriptions of new field or laboratory devices, or field, laboratory, or data analysis techniques that will be of interest to a large number of sedimentary geologists.
Current Ripples: Short, high-impact, provocative papers on sedimentary geology.  JSR’s goal for these types of papers is to provide a speedy outlet for new, data-supported research results.
Perspectives: Papers that offer the possibility for critical or explanatory review of broad topics of interest to JSR readers.
Discussion & Reply: Issues of broad interest concerning papers recently published in JSR.

Book Reviews: These are found on-line at http://www.sepm.org/jsr/book_reviews.html

Inquiries: For the fastest response, use e-mail (jsedr@colorado.edu). We welcome visits, please drop-in, from prospective, current, or past authors.

Page-charge contributions: General support from authors is important to the health of JSR and SEPM. Such support helps to keep membership costs within the reach of students and professionals.
