PALAIOS is a journal published by SEPM Society for Sedimentary Geology devoted to the applications of paleontology in solving geologic problems, and is of interest to a broad spectrum of international geologists involved in stratigraphy, sedimentology, paleogeography, paleoecology, and paleobiology, as well as to paleontologic specialists. Contents feature several comprehensive articles, as well as numerous short papers, book reviews, relevant news items and announcements, invited editorials and provocative essays. The editors seek to provide the authors and readers with timely publication of significant research that stimulates new developments in applied paleontologic research.
PALAIOS Subscriber Benefits
PALAIOS offers:
Quality Content
• PALAIOS is one of the oldest journals in this specific field, beginning in 1986
• The PALAIOS review process is backed by a large review board with diverse expertise. PALAIOS rejects over 50% of submissions due to quality issues.
Quality Delivery
• PALAIOS is hosted online at HighWire Press (HWP) of Stanford University, a premier science online vendor.
• PALAIOS access includes articles from the year 2000 forward in full html and PDF formats. This includes more than 350 articles and over 4200 pages of online material.
• PALAIOS access also includes the entire archives of PALAIOS articles from 1986 to 1999 in PDF format, with over 8,000 pages and over 700 articles.
• PALAIOS content is fully indexed by GeoRef.
• Toll Free Link - Online access at HWP includes a "Toll Free" link from the references within a PALAIOS article (from the year 2000 forward) directly and freely to any journal article that is also hosted at HWP, including all the journal in GeoScienceWorld (30+) and Science, whether your library subscribes to them or not. This feature removes barriers, allowing users to pursue their research with great efficiency.
• PALAIOS's official copy of record is the online version, saving libraries the cost of shelf space and storage. Printed copies are still available for a surcharge.
Financial Value
• SEPM is a non-profit scientific society publisher and makes every effort to keep costs low and quality high. It has no stock holders to pay.
• PALAIOS will publish a minimum of 650 pages in 2008, a significant increase over past years.
• The cost for all of these values versus the cost of its competitors makes PALAIOS a bargain at its 2008 subscription price.
• Compare PALAIOS's 2008 cost with other topical journals 2007 or 2008 pricing:
