NAMS Marine Micropaleontology Research Group Meeting

The Marine Micropaleontology Research Group met Monday, April
19, 2004, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. in Dallas, Texas under the sponsorship of the
North American Micropaleontology Section of SEPM. The principal speakers were
Roger Summons (MIT) and John Zumberge (Geomark Research). Roger and John gave a
presentation about how geochemical data from petroleum can provide insights on
the nature and evolution of ocean plankton. The event was preceded by a social
hour sponsored by ExxonMobil, Ellington & Associates Inc., and UNOCAL. There
were 22 attendees. The MMRG session provided an opportunity for networking among
micropaleontologists working major oil companies, consulting firms and
